Dr. Roshan Danesh is a lawyer, conflict resolution innovator, and educator whose areas of work, teaching, and writing include conflict resolution, peace-building, constitutional law, Indigenous rights, and inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue.Roshan completed his doctoral studies at Harvard Law School, currently teaches at the University of British Columbia, European Peace University and the Justice Institute of British Columbia, and formerly was the Chair of the Department of Conflict Resolution at Landegg International University, Switzerland and a faculty member for University of Victoria's Akitsiraq Law Program in Iqaluit, Nunavut. In conjunction with his teaching, Roshan has worked extensively over the past decade as a consultant to numerous international organizations, corporations, governments, schools and social justice organizations, focusing in the areas of proactive conflict-resolution, organizational cohesion, and leadership and team-building.
Roshan was one the founders of Education for Peace, an international peace education and peace-building organization which currently operates and implements programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United States, Canada, and Bermuda. As part of his work with Education for Peace he founded the Youth Peace Builders Network, an international network of youth leaders who work to create a culture of peace and positive engagement in their schools and communities. For the past four years he has also worked extensively with the Aboriginal peoples of Canada to design and implement negotiation and reconciliation processes with the governments of British Columbia, Alberta, and Canada.
Roshan publishes extensively in academic journals, including the International Journal of Peace Studies, the Journal of Peace and Conflict Studies, and the Journal of Law and Religion, as well as the entry on “Youth and Peace-Building” in the Encyclopedia of Peace Education.
