Human Rights Lecture Special Event – Sunday, June 27, 2010

The Laurier Institution’s Human Rights Lecture series is a unique opportunity to engage the global community in dialogue that is free from political ideologies. As global citizens, we have a shared responsibility to participate in this discussion. By providing a forum for exploration, dialogue and engagement, the Laurier Institution aims to expand and improve our understanding of human rights issues.
To celebrate the upcoming launch of the Human Rights Lecture series in Fall 2010, the Laurier Institution is pleased to present a special event, featuring keynote guest speaker, Ms. Ebele Okobi-Harris, Director of Yahoo!'s Business & Human Rights Program.

Keynote Speaker: Ebele Okobi-Harris
About the speaker:
Ms. Ebele Okobi-Harris is Director of Yahoo!'s Business & Human Rights Program, where she leads Yahoo!'s efforts to promote privacy and free expression on the internet.
Prior to joining Yahoo!, Ms. Okobi-Harris worked as a corporate securities and mergers and acquisitions attorney at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, Paris and London. She was also an attorney fellow at Consumers Union (a consumer rights advocacy non-profit) in San Francisco and a director of Advisory Services at Catalyst (a non-profit with the mission of advancing women in business) in San Jose and Amsterdam. At Nike's Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) headquarters in Amsterdam, Ms. Okobi-Harris primarily focused on marketing and stakeholder engagement in Africa.
Ms. Okobi-Harris earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Southern California, a JD from Columbia Law School and an MBA Certificat des Études from HEC-Paris.
